The Best Women
On the Friday before the wedding Mary had a thank-you lunch at the Waterboy restaurant for the women who were instrumental in helping us carry this thing off. The invitees were our readers Beth Lyons and Jane Hanson (be sure to scroll down for more on those two), Mary's soon-to-be mother-in-law Ann Rotelli, her mother Marilyn McEntyre, her stepmother Nancy Teichert, and her attendants: Elizabeth [Teichert] Taylor, Margaret Teichert, Jocelyn Ahlers, Jen Carr, Tamara Keres, and Liz Ward (who is the only one not pictured due to the fact that she was busy battling the hurricane she had to get past to make it to our wedding).
Jane and Beth were kind enough to do readings at our ceremony: Jane read Ruth 1:6-18 and Beth's text was Romans 12:1-2 and 9-18 (which I must say she read with all kinds of 'oomph!'). Jane's other wedding credit was Mary's headpiece, which she made in what seemed like a matter of minutes to go with the veil that Mary's sister Margaret had created. It's great to have such crafty friends and relations! The first picture below is Jane helping Mary with a sandwich on the afternoon of the wedding -- Tom says it looks as though we know something... if we do, we'll never tell!
Here Beth is at the reception with Howard, looking friendly and affectionate as she is wont to do.
And these are Mary's sisters: Elizabeth served as Matron of Honor, chief babysitting coordinator and late-night confidante, and Margaret was the Maid of Honor, veil seamstress and bridesmaids' tea hostess par excellence.
