Kalaupapa
Molokai's Kalaupapa peninsula was really moving.
Fr. Damian moved here to work in the leper colony administered by Hawaii, and lived here for many years before dying of the disease himself.
I read an excellent book called Molokai in the days before our trip,
and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a sense of the story with huge quantities of historical detail.
The church pictured here is Fr. Damian's church, the last building of the settlement that is still standing.
